jumper washing

Recently my maid washed my jet black jumper, which has been washed several times before has remained the same, but this time it turned completly orange, Idon't know how. can you explain that? thanks.

Sounds like a chloride bleach brightener has been used which has bleached the garment and removed most of the black pigment but left the colours in the wool which are not removed by bleach.

If it has not shrunk as well you could get a black dye from Dyelon which can be used at home with care to try to put the colour back or I'm afraid it will be the rubbish bin for your sweater. Always read the wash care labels and abide by the wool wash program with Woolite or some similar product of wool detergent.
