Offshore-Laundry, Products available, and points to consider when choosing a machine

Google

Offshore-Laundry,

Offshore-Laundry,

Washer Extractors - 5kg to 32kg

These need to be free standing with drums supported on a sprung and damped suspension, so that they do not tranfer any out of balance forces into the ship or platform

Tumble Dryers - 6kg to 30kg

Normally electrically heated reverse action vented to outside via ducting and free air make up air via vents into area from outside.

LPG is not a good idea on board ship as it can build up in the bilge if there should be leak.

Rotary Ironers - 100cm to 1.6m again these should be vented to outside with adequate make up air added to the tumble dryer calculations.

Spin Dryers - 9kg, 16kg

Not normally needed on board ship as high speed spin washer extractors will do this job.

Dishwashers front loading with drop down door which seals in the wash water during the cycle.

When I worked for Miele we had a full range of machines suitable for offshore use. One of the major benefits of the Miele range of machines was the small number of breakdowns which could be very expensive in engineer time and travel, sometimes over night via a very hairy helicopter flight over the North Sea in the middle of winter.

Go to the Miele professional site by clicking the link Miele Professional UK Ltd.

Requirements - for Offshore-Laundry,

Washer Extractors with high spin ‘g’ factor.

Obviates the need for a separate Hydro spin operation (space on board can cost £25k per Sq mtr)

Ease of servicing modern washing machines allow easy access to serviceable parts and pumps etc.

Accessibility for service is important in regards installation & site location of equipment, you don't want to remove the machine from its fixings every time you want a look inside.

The Machines must be able to fit through the doors and companion ways on board.

I have been involved with installations where the plates have had to be removed from the deck or holes cut in the side of the ship to get the machines in and out. This can be very expensive even for oil millionaires, so planning the design from the start is paramount when dealing with Offshore-Laundry

Voltages available - for Offshore-Laundry

In addition to standard 400/3N/50 are -

440/3/60

230/3/60

380/3/50

Check with manufacturer which voltage and phases are available to you for the particular size of machine.

Share your knowledge on the net, build your own web site.

It took me about six months to get this site up and running, which is about the time scale that SBI! suggested it would in the manual. Getting the site spidered by Google, Yahoo, and MSN takes a few months after you get the first pages up and running. Now it is working well and visitors are coming back regularly, and all the links are up and running smoothly. I could not have done with my other web hosting service which is very clunky to use.

Why not build your own personal website with the knowledge that only you have that would be useful to others, on any subject under the sun. What ever you have expertise in there is someone out there that wants to know more.

So share your knowledge at Share my knowledge with the net Now It's "easy peasy" , if you can navigate to here you can build a website with site build it in a matter of weeks it will be up and running. In actual fact you could do it in days but let's be realistic and say that you do get away from your keyboard occasionally.

The Offshore-Laundry page took me about two hours to build from scratch, with the simple cut and paste from word or notepad.
